Christmas Morning

Flash photography is NOT your friend early Christmas morning!  Santa came, come and see.
Checking out the loot!
See what Santa brought!

Another tradition is to open gifts one at a time starting at the youngest, great way to see what every one got for Christmas.

It turned out a little Charlie Brownish but it was beautiful to me!

This is a wreath made from our family's hands.  The circle is the symbol of eternity, our eternal family!

After the gifts were opened we had a sweet experience reading in the scriptures the story of Samuel the Lamanite and Nephi's experience in America. "And it came to pass that he cried mightily unto the Lord all that day; and behold, the voice of the Lord came unto him, saying: Lift up your head and be of good cheer; for behold, the time is at hand, and on this night shall the sign be given, and on the morrow come I into the world, to show unto the world that I will fulfil all that which I have caused to be spoken by the mouth of my holy prophets."

We had to let them have some time to play in the snow.  Sunday they walked up and down that hill a million times!
Carter tried it head first!  Sound like a good idea?
Not really!  Turn around next time Carter.
The mom even got in on the action.  It was a great sledding hill.

The brothers (Kordell and Carter) loved trying to race each other to the bottom.

Kordell was totally in his element.  He wants to go to the cabin every year for Christmas.
He even thinks he could live there all year long.

Now its the whole gang out on the hill.
From left, Brady, Carter, Logan, Jaycee headed down the hill,
Grandpa Dennis, and Mitchell on the skis.
Logan had an awesome ride on his snow board.  He started
behind the cabin and went all the way to the bottom of the hill,
well over a hundred yards.

After a ride like that he deserves a ride back to the top.

Jaycee got this penguin sled from Santa and she put many miles on it over the week end.

Kordell found a log half burried under the snow. He pulled off
part of the bark and hollowed out a little box.  Next summer when
we go back to the cabin he thinks some little creature will have
found it to be a nice home

Jaycee took up snow boarding and didn't do half bad.
Practice Practice Practice

Logan learned the art of driving a snowmobile and
got to be really good at it.

THIS is what I was thinking of when I thought about Christmas at the cabin.
Quality time with the sister - in - law!! Love you Chelly!!!
The upper layer of snow was frozen quite hard.  Kordell found he
could sculpt it if he was really careful.  This is a map of the
United States. Pretty creative don't you think?
Carter did take a break from the snow to come inside and build
the legos he got from Santa.  I think it looks just like the cabin!
It just wouldn't be camping at the cabin without a nice fire in the pit.
